A Natural and Joyful Copenhagen Wedding Story | Diana & Gary

Some wedding days just flow in the most effortless way, and this celebration was exactly that.
From the very beginning, everything felt light, relaxed, and full of laughter. The kind of day where nothing feels rushed, nothing feels overly staged, and the couple simply enjoys every moment as it unfolds. Diana made it clear that she wanted a relaxed wedding day, and for her, the perfect fit was 4 hours of photography coverage. They came all the way from Germany to celebrate their love in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Getting Ready at Hotel Manon Les Suites
The couple stayed at Hotel Manon Les Suites, and I arrived a bit earlier to scout the location and see what we could use for their first look photos before heading to Copenhagen City Hall.
I always like to arrive early for this reason. Every space has its own light, mood, and small d etails that can help shape the story of the morning in a natural way. It also helps the couple feel more relaxed knowing everything is already thought through before the day begins.
The atmosphere at the hotel felt calm and intimate, the perfect start to a wedding day that was all about ease and presence.
A Calm and Easy Start at Copenhagen City Hall
Before the ceremony, I always remind my couples to double check the spelling of their names on the official documents. It is very rare for there to be mistakes, but sometimes small things can happen simply because the registry handles so many couples every day.
In Diana and Gary’s case, there was a small detail that needed attention, and Diana noticed it immediately. Because of that, everything was calmly adjusted after the ceremony without stress or pressure. I love moments like this because they show how relaxed and grounded a couple is, even on such an important day.
The signing itself took place in a quieter room used for document handling, which made the moment feel even more personal and intimate.
A Wedding Filled With Laughter and Ease
What stood out most throughout the entire day was how relaxed and natural Diana and Gary were together.
They were not focused on posing or trying to do everything perfectly. They were simply present, enjoying each other, laughing often, and moving through the day with complete ease.
This is exactly the kind of energy that creates the most honest and timeless photographs.
After the ceremony, we stayed inside City Hall for a short couple session. These quiet moments right after becoming married are always some of my favourites to capture. There is a softness and calm that cannot be recreated later in the day.
A Beautiful Celebration at Kilden i Haven
After City Hall, we continued the celebration at Kilden i Haven at Tivoli.
It is a beautiful and atmospheric place that works perfectly for intimate wedding receptions. The setting allowed the couple to relax with their guests, enjoy the moment, and move naturally between conversations, laughter, and celebration. I love when weddings have this kind of flow, where nothing feels forced, and everything happens organically.
Walking Through Magstræde
Later, we took a walk through Magstræde, one of the most charming and historic streets in Copenhagen.
This part of the day felt like a quiet pause in the middle of everything. Just the two of them walking through the city, talking, laughing, and fully absorbing the fact that they were now married. These in-between moments are often where the most meaningful photographs happen.
A Perfect Ending to the Day
After the photos, Diana and Gary continued their celebration with a Japanese Wagyu dinner, the perfect way to end a wedding day that was already filled with so much joy. I went home shortly after feeling inspired and excited to start culling and editing their images while everything was still fresh in my mind.
They also booked behind the scenes video clips, which I delivered within 24 hours. I love offering this option because it allows couples to relive the energy of their wedding day almost immediately, while waiting for the full gallery.
Kind Words From Diana & Gary
One of the most meaningful parts of my work is hearing back from couples after they receive their images. Here is what Diana and Gary shared:
“Nertila is an absolute star, and we are so happy to have chosen her as our wedding photographer! My husband and I decided to get married in Copenhagen with around 15 guests. I found Nertila on Instagram and immediately loved her portfolio, but what solidified our choice was our intro call - we both immediately loved her energy and enthusiasm. She is so genuine and friendly. Everything about the booking process was super easy. We booked the 4-hour package with video clips, and this was perfect for our day. We felt immediately comfortable with her. Nertila is amazing at guiding us through the spaces. I didn't expect to have so much fun and feel so relaxed during a photoshoot. I absolutely love my getting-ready photos, which I didn't even plan to take, but Nertila came earlier to check the spots at the hotel. The restaurant photos, when we went to greet our guests - Nertila was genuinely like a fly on the wall capturing moments. Those photos look so fun! We also love the photos with our guests - we took them so quickly right before the ceremony, and they are beautiful! I am so impressed by how skilled Nertila is and how quickly she works. And we have so many gorgeous wedding portraits of the two of us. Nertila really went above and beyond - we loved that she printed three small photos and gifted us a frame so we could add them immediately. This was honestly so lovely, since of course it would take us time to print photos. She sent us the short clips from the day the evening of the wedding, and the actual edited wedding photos less than a week after! I also requested some edits, which were done amazingly within a few hours. Thank you, Nertila, for playing a key part in making our day super special!”
A Wedding That Felt Like Themselves
What I will remember most about Diana and Gary’s wedding is how effortless it felt.
No pressure, no stress, no overthinking. Just two people who genuinely enjoy being together, surrounded by the people they love, celebrating in a way that felt true to them.
And that is always what makes a wedding unforgettable to photograph.
